Save Airbnb in New York: Legalize Sharing

Goal: 20,000 NEW Goal:

If you've visited New York or ever hope to and want Airbnb as an option when you travel, please stand with New Yorkers who are trying to save Airbnb.

Right now, Airbnb hosts in New York like me are under attack because of a poorly written law. And if this can happen in New York, it can happen anywhere. I started a petition to the State Senate asking them to fix that law.

Sign the petition to the NY State Senate to save Airbnb and I'll let them know that as a once or future visitor, you think Airbnb should be legal too.

The poorly written law was originally designed to stop slumlords from running illegal hotels with dozens of rental apartments. As a New Yorker just trying to pay my bills, I don’t understand why they think I’m a slumlord.

After ending a career in the military, I decided to return to school and complete my degree in Public Policy. Renting a room has been instrumental in helping me transition back to civilian life. It’s helping me achieve my dreams by providing me with a source of income that makes it possible for me to focus my energy on preparing for a new career where I can help people through better public policy. Airbnb saved me. Now help me save Airbnb.

I figure that if we get 20,000 people to sign the petition, we’ll get the State Senate’s attention. If we hit that goal by October 20th, I pledge to deliver the signatures to every Senator myself.
